Fall 2017 Class Schedule: September 11 – November 18

From newborns to young teens, Chicago Children’s Theatre has a fantastic 10-week class for your child at The Station this autumn. CCT Education Classes are unique to the performance and education landscape of Chicago. In addition to old favorites, we’ve added some exciting NEW CLASSES like Wiggleworms (in partnership with Old Town School of Folk Music)! Check out the full schedule of classes below!

We’re pleased to offer Drop-In opportunities on select classes. To enroll for a drop-in, we recommend contacting Guest Services ahead of time at 872.222.9555 to confirm availability and enroll. You can also enroll 30 minutes prior to the scheduled class, in person, pending availability.

Bubble Jams
$175 Ages 0-3, (Drop-Ins Welcome!) Parent Participation Required
Mondays 4:00-4:45pm
It’s bubbles! It’s music! It’s fun! An interactive experience for you and your child. Listen to live music, enjoyable stories, and dance with your little one, all under the umbrella of continuous bubbles.

Taking the Stage, Level I  – SOLD OUT
$200 Ages 7-9 (Grades 2-4)
Mondays 4:30-5:45pm
Your young performer will learn to bravely take the stage, building confidence and a sense of community. Students will experience the basics of theatre-making in this introductory class by performing text, exploring movement, and using objects to illustrate stories.

Hip Hop4Tots
$175 Ages 3-4
Tuesdays 4:00-4:45pm 
Your child will learn to communicate in a new way through beatboxing: making sounds through voice and body. Children will learn new ways to use their bodies to participate in creative play while engaging with stellar musical talent in this popular class.

Wiggleworms – NEW CLASS
$190 Ages 0-4
Tuesdays 9:30-10:15am; 10:30-11:15am
In partnership with Old Town School of Folk Music, we are thrilled to bring their signature early childhood music program Wiggleworms to the West Loop! Delight in this special time for young children to learn, play, and grow though the power of song. Interactive, social, and imaginative, Wiggleworms is a rite of passage in Chicago – one that inspires new learning at the perfect time in a child’s life. Register for Wiggleworms through Old Town School of Folk Music here.

Intro to Theatre – NEW CLASS
$180 Ages 5-6 (Grades K-1)
Wednesdays 4:15-5:00pm 
In this introduction to theatre, students will learn the basic principals of theatre though instruction and active theatre games. This game-based class prepares your young performer to take the stage and encourages confidence in collaborative play.

Aerial Arts – SOLD OUT

Ages 8-10 (Grades 3-5)
Thursdays 4:15-5:15pm
In this energetic introduction to circus and aerial arts, presented with Actors Gymnasium, students will take to the air and develop core strength and aerial artistry. Through instruction in trapeze and lyra, your child will increase strength, courage, and coordination.

Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm

Epic tales for tiny tots. Dive into fairy tales, myths, legends and so much more as master storytellers bring stories to life for your little ones.

Shake the Stage
$190 Ages 10-14 (grades 5-9)
Fridays 4:30-5:45pm
Explore the stage with the Bard. Advanced acting and drama students read, analyze, perform, and find meaning in Shakespearean classics.

Hip Hop4Kidz

Intro to Circus Arts
$230 Ages 6-7 (Grades 1-2)
Saturdays 9:45-10:45am
In this energetic introduction to circus and aerial arts, presented with Actors Gymnasium, students will learn basics in tumbling, juggling, and other circus arts while increasing their strength and flexibility.

Owning the Stage – NEW CLASS
$200 Ages 7-10 (Grades 2-5)
Saturdays 10:00-11:15am
Prerequisite: Must have completed Taking the Stage I and II
The third installment of the “Taking the Stage” series for young and new actors, students will refine and expand their skills in acting, rehearsing, and auditioning.

Wiggleworms – NEW CLASS
$190 Ages 0-4
9:30-10:15am; 10:30-11:15am

Improv with The Second City – NEW CLASS
$225 Ages 9-13
11:30am-12:30pm
In partnership with The Second City, this class uses some of the tenets of improv like creating a supportive environment and the concept of “Yes, and” to teach kids some basic skills to get them on their feet and presents them with a new way to learn how to work with others. It is a great opportunity for them to meet new friends. This class provides an opportunity for kids to work together and be creative with other kids in activities that aren’t sports related. The games and exercises develop social skills and confidence. The focus here is put on physical expression as well as verbal communication.
