The Chicago Children’s Theatre Education and Community Engagement Team has assembled a vibrant and diverse Teaching Artist Community for the children of Chicago, and we are very proud of this inaugural group, which includes partnerships with The Actors Gymnasium, The Happiness Club, and Move Me Soul, as well as a growing community of innovative instructors who are all professionals in their fields.

Enroll your child in exciting new classes including: Circus and Aerial Arts, Taking the Stage, Hip Hop for Tots, West Loop Story, Bubble Jam, S.T.E.A.M. TV, and many more. We invite you to be a part of this inaugural class at our new home!

BABY STAGES
Ages 0-3
Parent Participation Required

Baby Boogie 
Saturdays, 8:30am-9:15am
$160 for the full 8-week session
Get groovy with your baby in a special dance party just for them. In this class, your growing baby will have a chance to practice fine motor skills, learn creative movement, experience delightful songs, and fun activities, and get to spend some extra time playing with you.

Bubble Jam 
Mondays, 4:30pm-5:30pm
$150 for the full 8-week session
Bubble Jam is an interactive experience parents can enjoy with their child. Chauncey Davis, recognized teacher and musician, plays live songs, tells enjoyable stories, and creates dances with children, all under the umbrella of continuous bubbles.

GROWING STAGES
Ages 3-5

Hip Hop for Tots 
Saturdays, 10:45am-11:30am
$160 for the full 8-week session
Your child will interact with stories, riddles, and fairytales in a new way through beatboxing: making sounds through voice and body. Children will learn new ways to use their bodies to participate in creative play while engaging with stellar musical talent and classic fairytale stories. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be present and participate in each class.

Kid Craft
Saturdays, 10:45am-11:30am
$200 for the full 8-week session
This art class is designed to introduce small children to the magical world of making, painting, and play. You will not find another craft class like this in the West Loop. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be present and participate in each class.

Ages 6-9 and 10-14

Choral Kaleidoscope
Thursdays, 6:00pm-7:00pm (Younger Stages, ages 6-10)
$180 for the full 8-week session
Your child will love this opportunity to find their voice. Students will learn to sing as a member of a group, explore the world of music, and sing in new and creative ways. This class will conclude with a showcase presentation for parents and caregivers in the final week.

Circus & Aerial Arts
Tuesdays, 5:30pm-6:30pm (Younger Stages, ages 8-10)
Thursdays, 5:30pm-6:30pm (Later Stages, ages 11-14)
$220 for the full 8-week session
In this energetic introduction to circus and aerial arts, presented with Actors Gymnasium, students will take to the air and develop core strength and aerial artistry. Through basic and intermediate instruction in trapeze and lyra, your child will increase strength, courage, and coordination. This class will conclude with a showcase presen­tation for parents and caregivers in the final week.

In the class for Younger Stages, students gain an introduction to the Circus Arts, developing a basic skill set while increasing their strength and flexibility. Tumbling, aerial silks, lyra, trapeze, Spanish web are among the skills offered.

MOVE IT! MOVE IT!
Wednesdays, 4:30pm-5:30pm (Younger Stages, ages 6-9) 
$180 for the full 8-week session
Your youngster will have a blast learning the latest dance moves in this fun, all-inclusive dance party. Bust a move while improving rhythm, coordination, and collaboration with friends.

Play & Writing
Tuesdays, 4:30pm-5:30pm (Younger Stages, ages 6-10)
$195 for the full 8-week session
This class will provide instruction in the skills of playwriting as students work creatively and collaboratively to develop original short plays. Through creative writing instruction and activities, students will write engaging new stories for the stage. This class will conclude with a showcase reading for parents and caregivers in the final week.

S.T.E.A.M. TV
Wednesdays, 5:45pm-7:00pm (Later Stages, ages 10-14)
$260 for the full 8-week session
Your filmmaker will thrive in this hands-on multimedia experience as they produce their own short epic videos under the guidance of experienced filmmakers. This class will emphasize STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) principles, build skills in filmmaking, and celebrate creative and collaborative storytelling. This class will conclude with a red carpet premiere of the shows.

Taking the Stage
Mondays and Fridays, 4:30pm-5:30pm; Saturdays, 9:30am-10:30am (Younger Stages, ages 6-9)
$180 for the full 8-week session
Your young performer will learn to bravely take the stage, building confidence and a sense of community. Students will experience the basics of theatre-making in this introductory class by performing text, exploring movement, and using objects to illustrate stories. This class will conclude with a showcase presentation for parents and caregivers in the final week.

Tumbling
Saturdays, 9:30am-10:30am (Younger Stages, ages 6-7)
$220 for the full 8-week session
From handstands and cartwheels to walkovers and handsprings. Perfect for kids who want to learn basic tumbling skills.

West Loop Story
Fridays, 6:00pm-7:00pm (Younger Stages, ages 6-9)
Mondays, 4:30pm-5:45pm (Later Stages, ages 10-14)
$195 for the full 8-week session
Are you a Shark or a Jet? Through a new exploration of West Side Story, this celebratory Broadway theatre class will give students opportunities to expand their musical theatre singing and dance skills while gaining confidence in performing and auditioning. This class in partnership with Move Me Soul, will conclude with a showcase presentation for parents and caregivers in the final week.

ALL AGES DROP-IN CLASSES

HOMEMADE PLAYS
First Saturday of the month, 10:00am-12:00pm
$20 per session
Every box is a stage in this creative, collaborative theatre experience! With cardboard and tape and your imagination as your storytelling materials, every week is a new set, a new play, a new storytelling experience. Participants will collaborate to cut, fold, construct, design, and devise completely original 3 – 5 minute plays. Bring your scissors, your heart, and all of your creativity to the theatre to make something truly spectacular out of nothing! Parents are welcome to join.

MASTER CLASSES
Third Saturday of the month
$25 per session
Experience the joy of learning from the masters. During the run of select CCT shows, masters from that production will share their knowledge and experience in a one-time-only workshop. This is art at its most inspiring, with interactive and accessible master classes full of discovery and wonder.

OPEN BUILD
Second Saturday of the month, 10:00am-12:00pm
FREE
CCT’s take on community theatre. Sew a costume, create a prop, build a set, and get your hands dirty as a vital part of the CCT community. Here is your hands on chance to step into the creative work of theatre. This Saturday fun time invites you to work alongside family members, neighbors, and professional artists to contribute to Chicago Children’s Theatre’s Pritzker Family Studio productions.
