As a rising national leader in education programming, Chicago Children’s Theatre’s offers educators the tools and resources to address some of the most pressing issues facing young people today with our Classroom Residency program. We are delighted to bring our high-energy, theatre-based class experiences to Galileo in the West Loop!
Through improvisation and playwriting, the young artists in this class will devise and perform an original work while learning the vocabulary needed to be a part of any theatrical experience! Collaborators will create a unique story based on the issues most important to them, and gain narrative-building skills for engaging audiences on the stage and beyond. The last day of class will culminate in the opening (and closing) of a world premiere of students’ original work that will be filmed and shared out with family and friends!
THE ROBUST CURRICULA WILL FOCUS ON TOPICS INCLUDING:
• Productive Communication
• Civic Engagement
• Celebrating Differences
• Shared Connection and Overcoming Perceptions
• Inclusivity in the Classroom and Beyond
• Allowing for Self-Reflection and Change
“I think this program was the highlight of the school year for many of our children. I hope we get a chance to be a part of this fantastic program again next year” -Laura Ward Elementary teacher
