Chicago Children’s Theatre’s classes for students in Grades K-2 engage their boundless creativity and encourage the practice of collaboration, both onstage and off. Classes focus on building basic theatre skills and social emotional skills. Each session features a mini performance for friends and family on the final day of class!
For grades K-2
Mondays, 4:30-5:30pm

Get ready to take the stage as a collaborative and confident performer! In this improvisational theatre class, you'll create hilarious characters through theatre games and ensemble work. Class will include skill building in:
- Adding onto ideas with "Yes, And…"
- Performing short-form improv games
- Making bold character choices
- Active listening and supporting your teammates
…and more! On the last day of class, friends and family will watch your mini-improv show right in your classroom.

You’re a shining star, no matter who you are! In this lively class for young music lovers, you’ll sing out-of-this-world melodies, build acting skills with theatre games, and create and perform an original outer space adventure. You’ll build skills in:
- Performing confidently in front of others
- Using body and voice to create a character
- Acting out stories through song
…and more! On the last day of class, family and friends are invited to a mini-performance right in your classroom.

All aboard, matey! Inspired by classic pirate legends, you will learn the basics of acting, character creation, and working with your ensemble to create an original sea-worthy saga. Class will include skill building in:
- Using body and voice to create a character
- Collaborating to create original stories with a beginning, middle, and end
- Making bold, imaginative choices
On the last day of class, you will perform your original pirate tale for families, friends, and scallywags right in your classroom.

The Earth needs heroes: that's YOU! Through theatrical explorations of environmentally conscious stories, you'll discover the power of working together to help planet Earth. Class will include skill building in:
- Using body and voice to create characters

- Using theatre to encourage civic engagement
…and more! On the last day of class, you'll perform your original eco-friendly story for family and friends right in your classroom.
For ages 4-7 with a caregiver

Designed for youth on the autism spectrum with a participating grown-up, this highly-interactive creative drama class will get the whole family moving and imagining! Bond with your little one through creative drama, music, and multisensory activities, while supporting your child’s motor development, communication skills, self-confidence, and blossoming creative spirit.
