More Information about our Camps

In our camps for ages 4-14, we prioritize young people’s creativity, ingenuity, and self-expression. That’s why we devise with kids. Devised theatre is a method of creating original plays as a group and then performing that original work together.

“She felt supported in taking risks and doing things she was nervous about.”

– 2024 Summer Camp Parent

“My daughter really liked making friends, dancing and singing all week long! She felt nervous about having her own lines but with the coaching and big kids, she did so well on stage!!”

– 2024 Summer Camp Parent

In the first half of a CCT camp, campers practice their performance skills, generate ideas for characters and scenes, and collaborate with professional theatre artists to mold their big ideas into a cohesive piece of theatre. In the second half of camp, campers finalize, rehearse, and perform their original work.

Here’s an example of what you might do in one day at camp!

  • Before Care: Play games, color, make new friends (and it’s included in the price of camp!)
  • Welcome Warm-Up: Meet teachers, get your body, voice, and imagination ready for acting and creating
  • Drama Class: Learn acting skills, play theatre games, create characters and plot for your camp’s play
  • Music Class: Practice singing with confidence, add lyrics to songs for the show, learn and practice dance steps
  • Art/Design Class: Design and create costumes, props, puppets, paint the set
  • Recess: Spend time outside at the playground at Skinner Park, or do special indoor activities on bad-weather days
  • Rehearsal: Learn blocking and practice for your play!
  • Choice Time: Pick between two fun activities planned by teachers, such as higher energy theatre games or lower energy art projects
  • Goodbye: Reflect on the day, share favorite parts of camp with peers
  • After Care: Continue to build friendships, free play quiet activities
