Tumble your way into Chicago Children’s Theatre! Learn early tumbling skills through exciting games and exercises designed to break your kids out of their shell. 

Tuesday

Pre-K Performers
Ages 3 – 4 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 4:30 pm – 5:15 pm

Your little actor will learn team-work and listening through fun new acting games in this class. They will build confidence in their voices, bodies, and imaginations while expanding social and motor skills. On the last day of class, we will share some of our favorite collaborative games and activities with you!

Acting Level Two: Devising an Ensemble with Ben Raanan
Grades 1 – 2 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Through improvisation and creative play, the young artists in this class will devise and perform an original work! Young actors learn to create unique characters and collaborate as an ensemble. Through embodied storytelling, these performers gain narrative-building skills for engaging audiences on the stage and beyond. The last day of class will culminate in the opening (and closing) of a world premiere!

Wednesday

Stop Motion Storytelling with Sharon Krome
Grades 2 – 5 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Students explore stop motion animation using paper art to recreate classic tales through fresh eyes. Students learn hands-on video production and voice acting while working in teams to create their own stop motion video!

Acting Level 1, Section 1: Building Character with Terry Guest
Grades K – 1 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 4:15 pm – 5 pm

In this theatre class, students will start to explore the creation of character and narrative. This class prepares performers to take the stage and encourages confidence in collaborative play. So come and tell exciting stories, make new friends and create wonderful worlds. This class culminates in an open workshop of the class and short scenes.

Thursday

Musical Theatre Triple Threat
Grades 3 – 5 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm

Students will perform scenes, monologues, songs and dances from Broadway and Chicago Children’s Theatre musicals. Through character work, movement study, and vocal exploration students develop essential skills for taking the stage with confidently and charismatically.

Improv in Performance

In this class, students will learn to shake out the nerves and take the stage as confident and collaborative performers. Improvisation teaches how to become un-scripted storytellers through the development of physical, cognitive, and verbal communication. This class culminates in our troupe’s own improv show! 

Acting Level 3 with Alka Nayyar
Grades 2 – 3 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

In our most advanced acting class, young performers grow their skills for the professional stage. Students will learn the basic vocabulary needed to be a part of any theatrical experience! Diving into scripted work, these actors will build on their physical and vocal range to breathe life into a variety of characters. Come see your young performer’s brilliance in our culminating scenes and monologue performances. 

Saturday

Acting with Accents
Grades 4 – 8 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 10 am – 11:15 am

Top of the mornin’ to you! G’day mate! Oi! Learn dialects to spice up your performances or surprise your friends and family. After learning universal vocal and articulation techniques, you will be able to play characters from all over the world! In the first week of class, students will choose three to four accents. They will perfect their skills using scenes and monologues and showcase their new abilities during a final presentation.

Saturday Morning Comics
Grades 2 – 5 | Program Length 10 weeks | Class Time 10 am – 11 am

BAM! BOOM! KAPOW! This course explores comics and visual art. Each week, students play experimental drawing games while learning about a different type of comic. Your artist will leave with a library of their very own comics. The session ends with a mini-comic expo for family and friends.
