Camp Red Kite 2024 | Camper Registration Form

Designed for young people on the autism spectrum, students in Camp Red Kite will explore drama, music, and visual arts throughout two fun-filled weeks! Join us for a dynamic arts experience that encourages self-expression, social engagement, and creative exploration. Students will be divided into three age groups.

Camp Red Kite is led by a trained team of artists, administrators, and special education teachers dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for youth on the autism spectrum. Camp culminates in a final showcase and potluck lunch to share the Camp Red Kite experience with family and friends.

All new campers must attend one Meet and Greet session with Red Kite staff. Meet and Greet sessions will be scheduled by the camp manager based on your availability.

**Financial Assistance is available** – Applications are considered on a rolling basis and are based on multiple factors. Please complete the Financial Assistance Request section of the registration form to be considered.

Registration Process
Completing this form is the first step in registering for Camp Red Kite. If this would be your first time attending Camp Red Kite, you will then join us for an in-person Meet & Greet, after which we will confirm or deny your acceptance to Camp Red Kite for this year. The final step of registration for all campers is processing payment, which a Red Kite administrator will guide you through.

Chicago Children's Theatre grants financial assistance on a rolling basis until all available funds are depleted. You will be contacted via phone or email after completing this form to confirm whether or not we are able to grant you the requested amount of financial assistance.

Meet & Greet Information
After completing this registration form, the next step for new prospective campers is to have an in-person Meet & Greet with Camp Red Kite staff, teachers, and other prospective campers. During this time, we will get to know each other, we'll tell you a bit about the program, and we will play a few theatre games together. After the Meet & Greet, the Camp Manager will determine whether Camp Red Kite will be an appropriate fit for your child this year, and will email to help you complete registration by processing payment. If the Camp Manager determines that Camp will not be an appropriate fit this year, we hope that you will try again and register in a future year!

Camper Support and Behavior Strategies
Camp Red Kite is focused on allowing campers to grow their sense of community, self-confidence, and artistic expression by exploring drama, music, movement, and visual arts. Camp Red Kite is NOT a drama therapy program, an OT program, or an ABA program. Nevertheless, our staff includes CPS Diverse Learner teachers and we use preventative strategies to encourage positive engagement from campers to foster a safe, kind, and collaborative place for all campers. We also collaborate highly and frequently with parents/caregivers to give campers the best experience possible.
