CHICAGO, May 24, 2018 – Due to high demand for spaces in its Summer Camps program in August, Chicago Children’s Theatre has added a new, two-week camp, The Blue Dog Musical Theatre Camp, running August 6-17, 2018.
Over the course of two weeks, children ages 6 to 9 will rehearse, create costumes and paint sets, act, sing and dance as they prepare to star in The Blue Dog, an entertainingly charming musical written and directed by Chicago Children’s Theatre’s award-winning Artistic Director Jacqueline Russell. On the final day, Friday, August 17, The Blue Dog campers will perform the musical live for family and friends on the stage of Chicago Children’s Theatre’s Pritzker Family Studio.
The Blue Dog is a frolicking, fun musical about a pack of adorable pound puppies looking for their forever home. Their fates change when the canine-loving Madame Lulu arrives at Pepe’s Puppy Pound seeking to adopt a blue dog. Campers will find their inner canines working with Russell and co-director Kay Kron, who many campers will recognize from her starring turn the past three seasons in CCT’s annual holiday show, The Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Party. Songs by Jonathan Gross.
Camp meets at Chicago Children’s Theatre, The Station, 100 S. Racine Avenue in Chicago’s West Loop Monday through Friday, August 6-17, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aftercare is available until 5:30 p.m.
Chicago Children’s Theatre is offering an early bird rate of $750 through June 10 only for The Blue Dog Musical Theatre Camp. The fee increases to $950 starting June 11.
