About the Show
Our twelfth year opens in The Station’s new Pritzker Family Studio Theatre with a celebration of the joyful energy that launched the company, a new production of the smash hit inaugural production of A Year with Frog and Toad, the Tony-nominated musical based on the beloved Frog and Toad children’s book series written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel.

Lobel’s well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in this whimsical show that follows two best friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four, fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons, celebrating and rejoicing in their differences that make them unique and special along the way. Kid-captivating musical numbers include “Cookies,” “Getta Loada Toad,” “I’m Coming Out of My Shell,” and “Merry Almost Christmas.” Part vaudeville, part make believe, all charm, A Year With Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures, weathering all seasons.

What Critics Are Saying:

“I’m not sure I’ve ever been so grateful to sit down for an hour or so with a house filled with very small but enthusiastic theatergoers…” –Chicago Tribune

“Frog and Toad’s cast members are all ridiculously talented musicians as well as savvy actors, all too aware of their audience’s intelligence. (You think the smallest set doesn’t know when they’re being talked down to? Think again.)” –Chicago Parent
